Paradise Gully - Mt. Cole State Forest

Paradise Gully is a beautiful relatively unknown location in the Mt. Cole State Forest, 160 km west of Melbourne.

The Paradise Track passes across the Fiery Creeek, through native bushland and superb tracts of tree ferns.

The pictures were taken on December 9, 2006, when Mick and I did the 4 km return hike along this scenic track.

The air temperature was about 32 degrees C, on a day of total fire ban. Smoke haze had penetrated this forest from the bushfires raging in eastern Victoria, some hundreds of km distant.

That is the reason for the brownish appearance of the images.
