The Kangaroos at Lysterfield Park

The Lysterfield Park, 40 km east of Melbourne, is home to hundreds of Eastern Grey Kangaroos!

These animals are the descendents of a group of six released into the Park in 1986, when the park was proclaimed.

I visited the Park on May 6, 2007, for a 6 km hike, taking in the Valley View, Grassy Spur and Glen Tracks.

I also ventured into the open woodland west of the Valley View Track, exploring an old creek gully.

There were many kangas, competing for space with walkers and cyclists in the bushland areas!

They don't seem to be concerned about human visitors to their territory! However, the large mature males will growl if approached too closely!
