Singleton Track - Doongalla Forest - Dandenong Ranges National Park

The Singleton Track (Singleton Terrace) is one of the best scenic tracks in the Doongalla Forest Section of the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 35 km east of Melbourne.

It's a 4 km route, extending from the firebreak at Glasgow Rd, through to the Old Mountain Rd at Kalorama.

It's the lower level fire management track, at around 400m altitude, on the northern flank of Mt Dandenong.

The distant views towards Melbourne, the Macedon Ranges, and the Kinglake Ranges are wonderful.

The Track is closed to public vehicles, but walkers and horseriders are permitted on it.

The track passes many huge granite boulders and outcrops, a legacy of the volcanic eruptions of 20 million years back!

I did this track (8 km return) on September 5, 2007, on a warm and sunny day.
