Tanglefoot Track -Southern Sector - Toolangi State Forest

The Tanglefoot Walking Track is a 9 km trail in the Toolangi State Forest, 60 km NE of Melbourne.

It links Sylvia Creek Rd with Monda Rd, descending into rainforest gullies, winding through forests of Mountain Ash, mainly regrowth from the 1939 bushfires.

Some of the giant trees in the forest are over 200 years old, having escaped the fires.

I completed the 6 km (return) southern section of this beautiful track on April 9, 2008, starting at the Monda Rd access gate. I had previously done the northern section.

The Track crosses several creeks via new wooden footbridges, made of Australian timbers, constructed to fit into the natural surroundings.

This section of the Track descends from 944m at Monda Rd to 801m, steep in parts!
