Tree Fern Loop Walk, Sherbrooke Forest

The Tree Fern Loop Track is a short (1 km) circuit walk in the Sherbrooke Forest, Dandenong Ranges National Park, 35 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

The walk starts opposite Grant's Picnic Ground, on the Belgrave-Monbulk Rd.

The walk passes stands of very old, large, tree ferns.

This part of the Sherbrooke Forest was heavily logged until the 1930s when tree felling ceased. A sawmill once existed near the site of the present-day Grant's Picnic Ground.

Nearby is the 1 km Margaret Lester Forest Walk, featuring many interpretative signs and photographs about the history of the area and the early settlers and timber cutters.

I completed these walks on Sunday August 10, 2008, on a bitterly cold day!
