A Hike in the Doongalla Forest, early Summer

On December 10, 2008, I visited the Doongalla Forest, part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 30 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

I did a 2.5 km loop hike starting at the Stables Picnic Ground, following the former pony trails now known as Stables Tracks, Bills, and Camelia Tracks.

This took me through interesting regrowth forest, passing beautiful fern gullies.

Bills Track is very steep and rutted, and care is needed after heavy rain!
