Flinders Coast

Flinders is a coastal town on Westernport Bay, about 70 km south of Melbourne.

I visited Flinders on Wednesday August 19, 2009, and my trip included a 4 km hike along the coast around the cliffs of the West Head.

On top of the cliffs is the Royal Australian Navy Weapons Training Facility, with entry to the general public prohibited.

See the full set of photos, which show the coastal scenery, water birds, other beachcombers, the reef, rock-pools, the long jetty, fishing boats, trawlers, and the beach.

The views across the Bay towards Phillip Island were superb.
