Olinda State Forest

On Thursday afternoon August 13, 2009, I went over to the Olinda State Forest, in the Dandenong Ranges NP, 35 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

My visit was to do continue research into a geographic study of the watercourses in the Forest.

I parked at the Eagle Nest Picnic Ground, off Silvan Rd, then followed Eagle Nest Track, turning into Bridge Track, descending to the interesting footbridge on the creek. Then, back to Eagles Nest Track, and on to Georges Tk, Hermon Track, and back to the start.

This was a pleasant hike of about 4 km, through the Lyrebird Creek and Rifle Range Creek Gullies.

Students from the Mooroolbark Secondary College were undertaking an Orienteering Activity in the vicinity, and had got lost, asking me for directions!

See all of the Photos of my visit!
