Mt Lofty in early spring - Warrandyte State Park

On Wednesday afternoon September 30, 2009, I went over to the Warrandyte State Park, 30 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

From the canoe launching ramp at the Reserve Rd car-park, I did a 3 km hike, along the main lower level walking trail next to the Yarra, then up the firebreak track to the Mt Lofty summit.

My return was down Stephen Rd, back to the car park.

I took the narrow detour off the main walking trail to the obscure fishing spot next to the Yarra, as well as a short sidetrack to the beach area, and a short visit past Tarzan's Rope.

The views from the ridge were magnificent, across the Yarra Valley to the Ranges, and to the Dandenong Ranges.

Spring daisies had appeared, carpeting the hills in brilliant yellow!

The Yarra was in flood, due to the recent heavy rains.

See all of my Photos of the trip!
