Yarrabubba State Forest
The Yarrabubba State Forest is at the western edge of the Bunyip State Park, 65 km east of Melbourne.
I visited this interesting area on Monday afternoon August 2, 2010, on a 4 km return hike, which started at the gated Yarrabubba Track opposite the Mortimer Picnic Ground, off the Gembrook to Tynong North Rd.
The track descends, steeply in parts, to the junction of Sandpit Ridge Track, an elevation rise from 120 m to 236 m, my turnaround point.
It passes through a former logging area, now mainly regrowth, with some colorful winter wildflowers in bloom.
See all of the Photos!
This Forest was ravaged by fierce bushfires in 1939 - logging ceased in the Park in 1990.
Anyone reading this and wishing to explore this track is advised that its lower section can be very muddy after rai
