Bourke's Lookout in early autumn

These pix were taken on Friday March 2, 2012.

Bourke's Lookout is on the top of Mt Corhanwarrabul, which at 628m is the second highest peak in the Dandenong Ranges National Park.

The first European to climb it was Daniel Bunce, a botanist, in 1839, with a party of Aborigines.

It is on the western flank, giving superb views across Melbourne and as far out as the Macedon Ranges.

Three of Melbourne's TV transmitters are located on the peak - Channels 2, 7 and 9.

Access to the lookout is from the east, via the 2 km circuit foot-track, (Kyeema Track), which continues westerly down the mountain to the Doongala Section of the Park.
