Wesburn - Historic Maize Silos

Maize silos off Station Rd

Wesburn is a town on the Warburton Highway 50 km east of Melbourne.

It has a strong heritage, as gold was discovered there in 1853.

The town was originally known as West Warburton, but was changed to Wesburn in 1925.

Heritage features include the former Maize Silos, built in the 1920s in Station Rd, and the WWI Memorial, dating back to 1918.

Sam Knott Hotel
The Sam Knott Hotel was built in 1885, and still going strong!

My visit was on August 22, 2012.

Long-range view to Palotti College, Dee River Valley

The views were superb to the Donna Buang Massif from the Yarra.
