Wurundjeri Trail - Blackburn South.

These pix were taken on February 15 2013 on a 3 km hike along the Wurundjeri Trail, in Blackburn South.
The local Wurundjeri family of Kulin Kooris lived around this area and the upper reaches of the Yarra River until the mid-19th century.

The Trail passes through remnant bushland, next to a creek, on land which was used for orchards prior to residential development in the 1950s. At that time, most of Blackburn and nearby suburbs were orchards or farms.

There are Wetlands and Lagoons in the Reserve.

The former usage of the land has its legacy in the name Orchard Grove, at the eastern end of the Trail.

The Trail is reached from Middleborough Rd, then Fulto Rd.
