The Bolin Bolin Billabong Reserve is next to the Yarra River, adjacent to Bulleen Park, 15 km east of Melbourne.
The Billabong was originally a loop of the Yarra, and is now separated from the river.
The Reserve is of important historical and cultural significance to the Aboriginal community.
The Cultural Landscape Trail passes through the Reserve, which is maintained by Parks Victoria, the Shire of Manningham, and local community groups and organizations.
The Billabong and lake are inhabited by ducks (!).
I visited the Reserve on May 4, 2013, on a 4 km circuit hike, starting at the small car park on Bulleen Rd.
Colourful new signage has recently been placed along the Trail, describing the special features of the Reserve, and its heritage.
