These pix were taken on August 28 2013 in the Montrose Brickworks Flora Reserve.
This was a 2 km hike along the Heritage Trail and adjacent tracks. The large reserve is reached by gates on Cambridge and Montrose Rds, and is mainly reclaimed bushland, with a central trail and creek. The brickworks started in the 1920s and closed down in the 1950s, when the dam and pits were filled in and the buildings demolished. A few bricks remain near the old pit.
The "military" personnel were a group of Cadets from the Ringwood East base, on training exercises, "armed" with look-alike laser-guided rifles purchased from KMart!
