The Murmungee Lookout is in the Stanley State Forest, south of the small settlement of Stanley, in NE Victoria, about 250 km from Melbourne.
It is reached from the Buckland Gap Rd, which links Beechworth with the Great Alpine Rd.
It is a 3 km drive up a narrow rutted steep dirt road to the Lookout, which is at altitude 757 m.
An information board shows a panorama of the magnificent valley, with the names and directions of geographical features which can be seen towards the south and west.
The site of the historic Royal Oaks Hotel, and info board, is at the junction of Buckland Gap Rd.
The images were taken on August 10, 2013.
