Smith Gully History Trail

Pix of Dec 15 2013.

This 3.5 km (return) Trail links Smith Gully Rd with St Andrews, about 40 km NE of Melbourne. Former goldmining precinct of the 1920s-1930s. Devastated by the 1962 fires - the forest is now mainly regrowth. Track is narrow, winding, rocky, and hilly.

Remains of the sluice channels are visible, but becoming overgrown by encroaching vegetation. Queenstown Cemetery is nearby - this was the original name for St Andrews.
