The John August Reserve - Canterbury

This is adjacent to Vauxhall and Mont Albert Rds

This was originally a quarry and kiln, then a popular swimming spot in the early 1930s, and  in later years became John August Reserve. After the kiln and quarry closed down, the area was known as Buckley's Paddock, subdivided c.1911.

The waterbody was described at the time of subdivision as an ornamental lake.

I was there on August 27 2018 for an exploration of the walking trails - a drain runs under the park.
