The magnificent Keppel Falls lie deep within the Yarra Ranges National Park, adjacent to the Marysville State Forest, 100 km east of Melbourne.
Access is 11 km from Marysville, along the Lady Talbot Drive, which was named after the wife of Sir Reginald Talbot, Governor of Victoria from 1903-1908. The Falls are reached via a 2 km (return) walking track.
This track was a bog for much of the way, and one of the two viewing platforms has been closed off by Parks Vic as unsafe.
The raging torrent of the Taggerty River rushing down the Falls was really impressive, fed by melting snow from Lake Mountain!
The Phantom Falls are nearby, accessed by a 1 km (return) hike up a steep foot-track.I did this trip on July 24, 2006.
