Lake Mountain Snow Hike

On Wednesday July 12 2006 I went up to Lake Mountain to check out some walking tracks. By chance, this happened to be the day on which the first snow fell at the resort!

Entry fees were not being charged, but I did have to pay a $2 parking fee.

I was driving through snow flurries for the last 5 km, and the temperature at 1 pm had dropped to zero degrees! There was also thick fog near the resort.

So, I did the walk up to the Summit and then on to the Alps View Lookout. Not much of a view, as the ranges were covered in fog, and I was walking whilst it was snowing!

The cross-country ski trails were shut (such as Echo Flat) and there was not enough snow for grooming.
