O'Shannassy Aqueduct Walk - Part 4
On July 22, 2006, I did a further sector of the O'Shannassy Aqueduct Walk.
This was a 10 km return walk along the western sector, linking the Dee Rd crossing (north of Yarra Junction) to the terminal point near the Don Rd junction (north of Launching Place).
The walk started and finished at the Dee Rd crossing.
The open channel section of the Aqueduct ends at the Don Rd terminal, and then runs through underground pipes (now disused) to the Silvan Reservoir.
There were very good views across the Upper Yarra Valley - this section of the track generally follows the 300 metre contour, skirting the lower flanks of Ben Cairn. Some small bridges remain, originally used for access to timber mills and tracks above the aqueduct.
