Exploring Red Rock - Mt. Cole State Park



The Red Rock is a massive geological outcrop on the western edge of Ben Nevis, in the Mt. Cole State Park, western Victoria, 180 km fom Melbourne.

At 770 metres, there is a vertical drop of some 300 metres to the valley floor, and it's a favourite launch site for hang-gliders.

The views are superb!

The photos were taken on August 12, 2006, on a trip which included our 1.5 km (return) hike along the Red Rock Track, some explorations of walking tracks in the area, a stop at the Victoria Mill Picnic Reserve, dirt road navigation, watching the launch of the hang-gliders, and a short walk along the Ben Nevis Summit (880 m altitude).
