Spandoni Nature Trail - Yering
Spandoni's Reserve (also spelt "Spadoni" in some references) is a pleasant public river frontage on the Yarra River watershed, in the Yering district, near the town of Yarra Glen, 50 km east of Melbourne.
Its main feature is an interesting 3 km circuit walk, known as the "Spandoni Nature Trail", which offers nice views of the river and the nearby Christmas Hills.
The river flats in this district were once the popular hunting grounds of the Woiwurrring Aboriginal people.
The first squatters appeared in the 1850s.
I visited the Reserve on September 12, 2006.
