Blackburn Creeklands

The Blackburn Creeklands is a 2 km linear Reserve of preserved bushland, formed from Black's Walk, Kalang Park, and Furness Park, following the course of the Gardiner's Creek.

It's 17 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

A haven for many bird species, it was originally orchards and farmland after European settlement.

In the early 1980s, residential development in the area was banned, and the Creeklands were developed as a community resource, managed by the Whitehorse Shire, Melbourne Water, and community groups.

I visited these pleasant Creeklands on October 31, 2007.

My pictures of the excursion are at Blackburn Creeklands
