Cave Hilll, Mt Buangor State Park

Cave Hill is a high peak, 848 m, in the Mt Buangor State Park, 180 km west of Melbourne.

The views are superb, towards the twin peaks of Mt Langi Ghiran, further on to the rugged Grampians, and across the Western District volcanic plains.

We visited Cave Hill on March 2, 2008, which we reached from the Beeripmo Walking Track, starting at the main Mt Cole Rd.

We had completed the entire Beeripmo Track some time ago, and as we had just climbed nearby Mt Cole, we went up to Cave Hill, about 2 km return, for the views, which are always wonderful!

A friend and I did the Beeripmo Track over two days in December 2006, and have some wonderful memories (except for the occasional leech). It's a beautiful walk, with great variety in the scenery and the vegetation, and runs the way I like it - downhill all the way home! We're returning to do it again in December this year (2008), and we'll do it in one day this time. Congratulations to DSE, and the volunteers who maintain it.
