On July 2 2008 I hiked a 5 km circuit in the Ferntree Gully Section of the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 30 km east of the Melbourne CBD.
My route started at the One Tree Hill Picnic Ground, then along the fire access tracks of Ramu Avenue, Outlook Rd, View Track, Mystic Track, Hansen Track, and Chandler's Track.
There was a change in altitude from 481 m to 256 m - Chandler's Track is very steep!
The route passed through forest, much of it very bare due to recent fuel-reduction burn-off operations.
There were views towards Mt Dandenong and across the Dandenong Creek Valley.
A community group manages weed control on Chandler's Hill, which overlooks the outer eastern suburbs of Boronia and the Basin.
