These pix were taken on April 16 2013 along the Gardiner's Creek Trail, Burwood.
This was a 4 km return hike, starting at Burwood Highway, opposite the site of the former Drive In theatre (1954-1983).
The route passed the old footbridge (built in 1850, restored in 1950), and through the Historic Park, wetlands, crossing Highbury Rd, and to the Gardiner's Reserve.
The Historic area is lined with a number of stone markers, depicting geological information about the Earth, with information about the formation of Victoria's topology through the various geological eras.
Each marker shows the era, its age, and the distance from the start of the Trail.
A display shows a selection of actual rocks from each era, and an illustrated time-line.
The historic section of the route is also known as "The Fossil Trail"
