Bolin Bolin Billabong Reserve

The Bolin Bolin Billabong Reserve is next to the Yarra River, adjacent to Bulleen Park, 15 km east of Melbourne.

The Billabong was originally a loop of the Yarra, and is now separated from the river.

The Reserve is of important historical and cultural significance to the Aboriginal community.

The Cultural Landscape Trail passes through the Reserve, which is maintained by Parks Victoria, the Shire of Manningham, and local community groups and organizations.

The Billabong and lake are inhabited by ducks (!).

I visited the Reserve on August 4, 2013 exploring the main Trail, about 4 km return, starting at the car park at Bulleen Park.

Colourful new signage has recently been placed along the Trail, describing the special features of the Reserve, and its heritage.

The Bulleen-Templestowe Under-15 footy team was in action, playing Beverly Hills, in the Yarra Junior Football League!
