Somers Beach coastal hike

These pix were taken on February 1, 2012, at Somers Beach Foreshore Reserve, 70 km south of Melbourne, on Westernport Bay.

From the main carpark at Somers Village, my 2 km hike took me along the Sheoak Track to the Yacht Club, then down to the base of the cliffs and back along the beach.

Flinders Coastline - Westernport Bay

Flinders is a village about 70 km south of Melbourne, located on Westernport Bay.

With a population of around 510, Flinders is one of the smaller towns in Australia, and is at an altitude of about 39m above sea level.

I visited Flinders on January 13, 2009, and did a 4 km (return) beachwalk north towards the settlement of Shoreham.

The Photos show the coastline, the pier, small boats, and people having a good time in and out of the ocean!

This was very hot day, 37 degrees.

Exploring Shoreham Beach

Shoreham is a peaceful coastal settlement about 100 km south of Melbourne, on Westernport Bay.

On September 21, 2008, I visited Shoreham, at high tide, exploring the beach, foreshore and creek.

Surfers were everywhere!

Please see my Photo Album, which includes a picture of myself taken in January 1951, when I attended the YMCA Camp for Boys at Shoreham. The camp site was subsequently sold for rural residential development, and traces of it are still visible along the access road to the Beach.
