Marysville State Forest - Gilbert's Gully Loop Trail

These pix were taken on May 21 2012 in the Marysville State Forest, 90 km east of Melbourne.

They show the environment and scenery along the 3 km Gilbert's Gully Loop Trail, which starts near the main road to Marysville, at the western edge of the town.

The Trail crosses the Wilk's Creek twice, on bridges and a boardwalk, and winds its way around the lower slopes of Mt Gordon.

The Gully is noted for its lyrebirds, but none were seen!

Yellow Dog Rd - Marysville State Forest

Yellow Dog Rd follows the Steavensen River, and starts at Falls Rd, about 1 km east of Marysville township.

There is a nice Picnic Area about 1 km from the start.

Keppel Lookout - Marysville State Forest

A drive to the Keppell Lookout, Marysville State Forest, May 10 2012, 90 km from Melbourne.

The panoramas were superb!

The Lookout is 5.5 km south of Marysville, and is reached from Paradise Plains Rd. It's well signposted. Several hiking trails are passed, and the trails to the Steavenson Falls and Tree Fern Gully cross at the carpark.

Well worth a visit!

The road is unsealed, and in good condition. I also explored a section of the Keppel Lookout track.
