River Trail to Mt Lofty, Warrandyte State Park

The Warrandyte State Park is 15 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

I visited the Park on February 18, 2008, completing a 4 km hike along the Yarra River Trail to Mt Lofty, starting at Witton's Canoe Launching Ramp at Reserve Rd.

This Trail has recently been upgraded and extended, with access permitted to the eastern section of the gorge over exposed rocks along the river bank.

The views of the River, rapids, and hills are superb.

Mt Lofty Summer Walk - Warrandyte State Park

The walk up to the summit of Mt. Lofty, in the eastern section of the Warrandyte State Park, 25 km from Melbourne, offers superb views of the surrounding hills and the Yarra ranges.

The Yarra River meanders around the mountain, and many Eastern Grey Kangaroos live in the area!

I did this 5 km walk on January 22, 2007.

Hiking in Yarra Brae - Warrandyte Site Park

The Yarra Brae Section is in the northern part of the Warrandyte State Park, 25 km east of Melbourne.

These pictures were taken on January 15, 2007, on a 6 km hike along the Yarra Brae Trail and adjacent tracks.

There were very good views of the Yarra River.
