The Dandenong Ranges Tourist Track is a 15 km walking route linking the towns of Emerald and Sassafras, 45 km east of Melbourne.
The Track was constructed 101 years ago, in 1907, for excursionists from Melbourne.
On March 9, 2008, I hiked the 5 km (return) Kay's Park to Moxham's Rd section of the track, in the Monbulk district, which runs alongside the Sassafras Creek, through splendid fern gullies. The bellbirds and kookaburras will keep you entertained!
It passes through the Olympic, Kemsley, and Bayne's Park Picnic Grounds.
I have now completed the entire Tourist Track, over several sessions!
