The Yarra Ranges National Park has recently been extended to include a section adjacent to the Yarra River and Cement Creek, along the Cement Creek Rd, East Warburton.
This land was previously owned by Melbourne Water, as part of the water catchment area, and is now managed by Parks Victoria.
Walkers are permitted in this new section, which is green and lush, and surrounded by tall forest.
I visited the area on May 27 2007, exploring the tall forest adjacent to the river, the confluence of Cement Creek and the Yarra, and checking out an interesting fire-access/walking track on the flanks of Mt. Donna Buang.
