Dandenong Police Padocks Reserve - the former Main Arena

This was a 2 km exploration on June 28, 2017. This started at the car park at the end of Brady Rd, Dandenong North, then along gated Greenbanks Avenue to the sporting field, which was the Main Arena during the 7th Australian National Jamboree, held in Dec 64 to Jan 65.

Points of historical interest dating from the Jamboree included the Tree Conservation Area, the Jamboree Water Channel, the walking track to the "Hill", and the remains of old metal gates.

Much of the area surrounding the Arena is now dense bushland and infested with blackberries and weeds.

  1. Howdy Bob, sure looks very lush and green here, plenty of old dead timber around too, very nice open spaces and walking tracks, it sure looked a bit cold though! Thanks for sharing and best regards! Michael
