The Warringal Parklands is an extensive area of preserved bushland, adjacent to the north back of the Yarra River, as part of the 1600 hectares Yarra Parklands.
The main entry point is at Rosanna Rd, Heidelberg, 15 km east of the Melbourne CBD.
The Main Yarra Trail passes through these Parklands.
Features include Sill's Bend, formerly an orchard and farm, Fanning's Bend, and the Warringal Wetlands. Warringal Parklands adjoins the Banyule Flats (to the north), and the Yarra Flats (to the south).
Sill's Bend has several beautiful old trees, in fenced off areas. The descendents of the original plantings of olive and fruit trees may be seen in the Bend area. I explored these interesting Parklands on October 25, 2007, which are managed by the Banyule City Council.
