Olinda Creek Gully - Dandenong Ranges National Park

Track 18 (also known as "Road 18") is in the Olinda Forest, Dandenong Ranges National Park, 40 km east of the Melbourne CBD.

It is in the Olinda Creek Gully, linking Stonyford Rd with Track 13, and follows the Olinda Creek through tall forest and superb tree ferns.

I explored this Track on November 17 2007, about 2 km return.

Bullock trains hauled logs in this forest from the 1870s until 1920. Terrible bushfires destroyed most of the remaining forest in 1963, and all logging ceased in 1968.

The Olinda Forest was incorporated into the Dandenong Ranges National Park in 1987.

The photos of my trip are at Track 18 Olinda
