Plenty River Trail - Yallambie Section

These pix were taken on November 23 2012 on a 4 km (return) hike along a section of the Plenty River Trail, between Yallambie Park and Montmorency Park, 15 km east of central Melbourne.

The Trail passed the Airservices Navigation "Outer Marker" used by aircraft approaching Melbourne Airport. This installation consists of two tall masts, supporting a dipole antenna array.

Three bridges were passed on the Trail.

The area is the traditional home of the original Aboriginal owners - a colorful info board describes the Aboriginal history of the district.

A protected stand of Black Bamboo, and an info board may be viewed next to the Trail, a legacy from the first settlers in the late 1800s.
